Macmillan and Son, Inc. was founded in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1921 by John S. Macmillan as a full service real estate firm offering what for its time would be considered comprehensive services from complete brokerage services to property management for both institutions and individual clients.

As the firm matured, its focus became more specialized and during the presidency of John D. B. Macmillan became greatly concentrated in the realms of commercial, industrial and investment real estate. In 1960, Macmillan and Son, Inc. dissolved its residential brokerage division to concentrate solely in commercial, industrial and investment real estate services. Since this time it continues to provide and offer comprehensive  appraisal, brokerage, consulting and property management services. The firm’s reputation and services are widely known throughout Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut. Macmillan and Son, Inc. continues to monitor and adapt to the changing real estate industry and to serve as a pioneer in offering many unique and innovative services such as the first ground lease and tax deferred exchange in Western Massachusetts.
